Future of our country and future of whole Europe depends on each of us

Donetsk Euroclub is happy to present a series of essays on the topic "Future of Europe" by former members of Euroclubs. Essays were submitted for a competition to participate in a Youth in Action exchange in Norway. Essays are presented as received.

In this essay I would like to tell you a story of one great decision which challenges the life of more than 503 million people.

It was one of the brightest days of springtime when Robert Schuman delivered his speech to the public and appealed to public in order to unite all the European countries. 42 years later this initiative has been officially signed and gave a birth to one powerful entity – European Union.

From times to times, different storms were trying to paralyze EU: economic crisis, high debts and internal disagreements. Nowadays, a lot of people are on the crossroads: would EU crash as Samuel Huntington predicts for big “empires” or would it flourish and strive for excellence?

Future of Europe is in its return to the spiritual form of Europe

When I was a child, I never thought about the future, when I became a teen-ager I attended euroclub at my school and I start analizing and thinking about it. Now I am 19 years old and I am sure that youth means enthusiasm, readiness to do anything, to create something new. We can bring a lot of change, remove corruption, be active, enhance our talents, inspire others. I’m sure- each and every youth has enormous force! My hope is that non-governmental public organizations will make a commitment to initiate a development facilitation effort in a community.

QUALITY OF LIFE IS DEVELOPMENT! The world is in constant changing and development, so we can’t be isolated. I visited some European countries taking part in different projects and programmes and saw the life of people there. European life-stile, standarts of living, protection of civil rights,democratic values, equality before the law... always impressed me greatly.

So, I’ll try to express my thoughts about the future of Europe, which faces a lot of problems now. The problem with euro, fragility of eurozone, the hybrit nature of European economic and political integration, EU’s democratic dificit...I don’t agree with the words that " the EU is a fair-weather construction and works only in the absence of economic troubles". I think that every country of EU demonstrates a shared feeling of belonging.

European integration requires immediate innovative solutions

Today Europe faces a set of serious problems that brought into discussion the subject of European decline. Scholars and politicians now talk more about the EU’s weaknesses and faults than about its role as a powerful actor in international arena. According to Prof. Kasaba from University of Washington, even Turkish public opinion on integration into the EU has shifted from 78% (2004) to 28% (2011). The wide range of economic, political, institutional, and social challenges hit European societies. These challenges include structural factors such as demographic decline, European reliance on Russia as main supplier of energy resources, and inconsistency between competitive economies (Germany, Netherlands, Scandinavia) and weak economies (Spain, Italy, Greece). Other factors, which contribute to deepening European multiple crises, are institutional weakness at the EU level. The question of immigration, political leadership crisis, and enlargement remains the source of the headache for EU members, especially for its leading forces – France and Germany.

Everyone who admires the European experiment, should hope for its success

To find out what must happen, one needs just to track what has happened…  It occurs because all human deeds are done by people, who have always had and will always have the same passions, and that is why will inevitably lead to the same result.
Niccolo Makiavelli

In the first half of the last century Europe tormented itself with two wars and destroyed its central role in the world politics. In the second half of the century far-sighted leaders looked further than just revenge and gradually created institutes of the European integration. The thought of a new war between France and Germany seems totally ridiculous today, and the development of the European Union increased an appeal of Europe in the world considerably. Unfortunately, this historical achievement is under question now.

The European unity has already faced significant obstacles. The tax and budget integration has limited nature. National identities are still stronger, than the all-European identity, despite six decades of integration. And national interests, even if not as strongly pronounced as in the past, are still important.

If a future Europe is to compete it needs structural reforms

I am a young student, I live in Ukraine and I think Europe must change and raise. A number of leaders have made the valid, but often forgotten point, that the Europe we have now has brought a formerly war-torn continent a period of unrivaled peace and prosperity. The union has also brought Europe power and influence on the global stage as the world’s largest political union and single market with 500 million consumers.

All people in Europe will follow European values

We live in Ukraine. And Ukraine is a part of Europe. And we, the youth, are worried about the future of Europe. As for me I see Europe united, friendly, without wars. After the Second World War the problem of peace was very actual at around Europe. I think, the European Union was created for supporting of peace in Europe and for helping each other in any difficult situation.

I hope Europe will be strong and without any natural disasters. And what is the main thing for me Ukraine will be the richest European country. All Ukrainians will be able to travel around Europe without any visas. And people from different countries will not be afraid of visiting Ukraine.

European Union is the most successful stereotype of international organizations

This summer I have a great chance to travel around Europe and see the working mechanism of European Union. During three years of studying of international relations I’ve learnt lots of information about this topic, but the experience of EURO 2012 in Ukraine where I was an official volunteer has finally makes clear what Europe is like indeed. However, I have no doubts about successful future of this system.

Probably, the main connecting link between European countries is its mentality. European values bring together all the existing components, each of which is imbued with the spirit of unity and cooperation. But we should remember that every mental aspect had to be accompanied by hard work and absolute confidence of all members. Nowadays, EU has difficulties with relatively new members, such as Greece and Portugal. Don’t you think these countries reached the limit of confidence and crossed the deadline? Maybe EU should just exclude them? I am sure, that such step will definitely undermine the credibility of European Union, as one of the leading international organizations. So, in future EU would be most prudent to expand its borders.

Let us recall the intentions of Ukraine to become an EU member…To be honest, the expectations differ a lot from reality. We still have an amount of defects in Ukrainian political, economical and, moreover, social system. But nevertheless, Ukraine has an undeniable chance to qualify.

Towards a powerful federation of Europe

PAN EUROPE

The European Union is the largest regional association of suprastate, that conduсt a common policy in the spheres of trade, agriculture, transport, customs agreements. The world’s experience has shown that the supranational economy has gradually transformed from a free trade area to a full economic and political integration. It would be logical to assume that the future of Europe - is the creation of a single European State. Being a single State Europe will lose its main strength: in the context of globalization EU will have to create and preserve exclusivity and uniqueness of each nation of EU member state.

Integration processes in the European community suggest the best option of the EU expansion possibly its transformation into a Eurasian Union. Regarding the creation of a single state: Mikhail Bakunin spoke about the prospect of the European federation, or the same was said by Coudenhove Kallergi in his book "PANEVROPA." It will allow Europe to be united, while retaining their national identity. The EU member states are not prepared to absolute integrity (evidenced by the signing of the referendums on the "European Constitution" and the Lisbon Agreement.). But they are ready to be a powerful absolute force, united, indivisible, but national-identical!! This is its difference, it would allow the union not to fall victim to globalization, as it occurred to the greatest empires and alliances.

Future of Europe is in the hands of young generation

Donetsk Euroclub is happy to present a series of essays on the topic "Future of Europe" by former members of Euroclubs. Essays were submitted for a competition to participate in a Youth in Action exchange in Norway. Essays are presented as received.

The future of Europe is in the hands of young generation. We need to bring up active citizens who will be able to take an active part in the life of European states. Hopefully, Ukraine will be among them.

Moreover, the future of Europe is based on the European values, such as diversity, multiculturalism and tolerance, honesty, freedom, humanity, democracy, equality, respect of the human rights. People with different backgrounds live together peacefully.

On the one hand, each nation has its own national identity; on the other hand, multicultural Europe is great in its diversity. The more people participate in different professional and cultural workshops, trainings and projects, the more they understand how much they have in common and what is more - to share with others. Living together in the European Union, different nations get the best from each other.

In Europe moral values are very precious. This brings up responsible and diligent citizens. The key to effective collaboration is open communication among partners, flexibility and tolerance.

Future of Europe is in the hands of Democracies

Donetsk Euroclub is happy to present a series of essays on the topic "Future of Europe" by former members of Euroclubs. Essays were submitted for a competition to participate in a Youth in Action exchange in Norway. Essays are presented as received.

The future of Europe is in the hands of the democracies in the hands of the people of Europe. Citizens will determine the direction of Europe. They are the masters. But nonetheless, whatever the institutions of Europe, it will be important to truly pan-European public debate.

Good governance requires that both individual Member States and EU institutions fulfill their functions.

Each country of euro zone should keep its house in order. This means a responsible economic policy from the government, as well as the strict supervision of the common policy, not just fiscal policy, but also measures affecting all aspects of the economy - from the Commission and Member States.

Magic wand that can solve all the problems is seen in Europe integration.

  • отличная атмосфера;
  • красивая природа;
  • группа профессионалов (фаер-театр);
  • отличная команда (наша - самая лучшая);
  • желание чему-то научиться;
  • развлечения параллельно с работой;
  • питание;
  • и т.д.
